Officers stopped Nidia Contreras, 27, of Bridgeport, on Commerce Drive after checking her license plate and find a problem, police said. She told officers that she had purchased the car a month ago and had not yet bought insurance or registered the car, police said.
During the conversation, the officer determined she had three different identification cards in her purse with a false name, including a Social Security card, police said.
She was transported to headquarters and charged with criminal impersonation and second-degree forgery. She was released on $1,500 bond with a court date of March 25.
The officer also issued misdemeanor summons on a charge of misuse of plates, operating an unregistered car, driving without a license and driving with no insurance. Conteras was released on a written promise to appear March 25 on those charges.
