Monica Negron, 41, had been traveling on Villa Avenue when she crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and hit the front of another car, police said.
Both Negron and her 2-year-old son were taken to the hospital for evaluation. When officers investigated the car, they found an open bottle of alcohol, police said. Hospital reports indicated that Negron had been under the influence when she was driving, and a warrant was issued for arrest, police said.
She was released on $1,000 bond and given a court date of Sept. 18.
Over the past year, Negron has been involved in nine other instances of public intoxication and transported to the hospital for evaluation, police said.
On several occasions, witnesses have contacted police and EMS after finding Negron apparently passed out in parking lots or in cars, police said.
Most recently, she was charged with breach of peace in July when she reportedly slapped her ex-boyfriend and father of her son during an argument, police said.
According to police, the ex-boyfriend has full custody of the child, although Negron has visiting rights.
