Woman Caught Stealing Toys From Fairfield Police Headquarters

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield Police caught a woman stealing toys from a collection box the lobby of their own headquarters on Tuesday, according to the Fairfield Citizen.

Judith Howard of Seymour was arrested after stealing donated toys from the Fairfield Police Department. The toys were for needy children in the area.

A 911 dispatcher happened to be checking surveillance cameras of the building when they noticed a noticed a woman, later identified as Judith Howard, 55, of Seymour, taking toys from collection boxes and putting them in a car parked outside, said the Fairfield Citizen.

The toys were taken from two large boxes for a Christmas donation project for the Fairfield Police Benevolent Association’s holiday toy drive, reported the Fairfield Citizen.

Howard, who lives nearby, told police she thought they were left for people to take. In all, she stole 16 toys valued at $320, the news outlet reported.

She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released after posting a $500 bond. Howard is scheduled to appear Dec. 14 at state Superior Court in Bridgeport, the Fairfield Citizen said.
