Two Teens Charged With Shoplifting Jewelry At Fairfield Store

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield police were called to the Kohl's store after loss prevention stopped two teenage girls who were taking more than $300 in jewelry from the store, police said.

According to the police report, the two Bridgeport residents attempted to hide pieces of jewelry in their purses and then walk out past the registers. 

Police charged Mayra Argueta-Sanchez, 19, and Melissa Garcia, 19, with sixth-degree larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

Sanchez had $74 in jewelry in her purse, and Garcia had $264 in jewelry hidden in her purse, police said.

They were both given misdemeanor summons and were released on written promises to appear at Bridgeport Superior Court on Sept. 24.
