FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Two people were killed when their car crashed into a tree after coming off northbound Interstate 95 at Exit 21 in Fairfield early Wednesday, fire officials confirmed.

The speeding car slammed into a tree on Sunfield Road off Mill Plain Road, according to Assistant Fire Chief Christopher Tracy.

The Connecticut Post reported that the accident occurred at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The names of the victims were not released, and no further information was available.
