The crash took place around 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, when the trooper was stopped and parked in the right shoulder on I-84 east just before Exit 50 in Hartford, said the Connecticut State Police.
The trooper, who had her emergency lights on, was providing scene safety at a prior crash when Samantha Nunez, 22, of Hartford, who was traveling eastbound, lost control of her vehicle while negotiating the curvey roadway, said state police.
After losing control, Nunez's vehicle crossed all lanes of travel and collided with the rear and driver's side door of the trooper's vehicle, they added.
Nunez was not injured. The trooper received suspected minor injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment.
Nunez was determined at fault and issued an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.
