? A Fairfield woman was charged in a set of drug crimes Monday night during a routine traffic stop. Fairfield police also arrested the passenger, a Bridgeport man, for coming along for the ride.

An officer pulled over Angelica Douglas, 21, of Woodridge Avenue, after she allegedly ran a stop sign on Hill Brook Lane near Brookside Avenue. The officer smelled marijuana smoke coming from the car. When asked about it, Douglas turned over a small plastic bottle with marijuana inside, police said. The officer also found a glass pipe and a second bottle containing five different prescription medications, police said.

During the arrest, the officer found that Douglas’s passenger, 24-year-old Robert King of Abner Court, Bridgeport, was banned him from being within 100 feet or having any contact with Douglas because of a protective order.

Douglas was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and failure to keep prescription medications in their proper container. She was released on a promise to appear in court March 14. King was charged with violating a protective order and was held on $1,000 bond before reporting to court Tuesday.
