Suspect Charged With Thefts From Fairfield U. Bookstore

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Hamden woman was charged with larceny this weekend in connection with a scheme to sell stolen merchandise for cash at the Fairfield University Bookstore, police say.

The Post Road bookstore reported a series of thefts over three days in early March, according to police reports. Video surveillance showed a man taking textbooks from the store’s shelves and removing them from their plastic packaging, police say. About $1,000 worth of merchandise was reported missing from the store, according to the police report.

A woman would then sell the books back to the store to get cash as part of its book buyback program, police say. Through video footage investigators identified Larissa Arabolos, 22, of Hamden as a suspect, according to police reports.

Arabolos was charged with sixth-degree larceny, a misdemeanor. She is due in court April 29. A warrant is still pending for the other suspect, police say.
