FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The wheels were stolen off two high-end cars, which were left inoperable on cinder blocks, Fairfield police said Monday morning.
Fairfield police received two calls Monday morning reporting the thefts.
All four Pirelli high-performance tires and rims were removed from a 2012 BMW on Parkwood Road overnight, its owner reported.
According to police, the owner has video surveillance of a bald white male taking all four wheels off the car and rolling them to a car parked on the road before putting the car on two cinder blocks at about 2:50 a.m. Police say the owner will share the surveillance video with them for the investigation.
The wheels were valued at $2,500 each, and the body damage from the cinder blocks caused an estimated $5,000 in damage, for a total of $15,000, police said.
A second incident was reported to police within 20 minutes of the first report. The owner of a 2011 Mercedes convertible on Green Acres Lane reported that all four stock wheels had been stolen from the car, which was placed on two cinder blocks, police said. The car had been sitting in the driveway, police said.
The total value of the wheels was estimated at $6,000.
