Officers believe that someone entered the Moorehouse Drive residence through a basement sliding door, police said.

The homeowner reported that she left the house at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, police said. Her son called her shortly afterward, saying he could not enter the house because the front door was latched from the inside, police said.

Among the missing items was a diamond ring valued at $27,000, police said. The homeowner was also missing two watches, valued at $400 each, and jewelry items valued at $4,800, police said.

The homeowner also reported that $3,700 in cash was missing, which was reportedly hidden behind a dresser drawer, police said.

The incident is under investigation, according to police.
