Police: One Arrested, Two At Large In Fairfield Robbery

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Police have one suspect in custody and are looking for two more in an armed robbery at TD Bank Monday, according to police reports.

A witness called police to report a man with a gun in the area containing safe deposit boxes at the Black Rock Turnpike branch of TD Bank Monday afternoon, police say. Police cleared employees and the manager from the bank, but did not find a suspect inside, according to the report.

Police believe the case started as a kidnapping in Bridgeport and continued into Fairfield, according to a press release. The suspects may have known the victim previously and brought the person to the bank to take valuables from a safe-deposit box, police say.

Officers working a road detail nearby took one suspect into custody as he exited the bank and made sure the victim was safe, according to police reports. That suspect’s name and charges have not been released as of Monday evening.

Police are still looking for two more suspects in a blue or teal-colored four-door Mercedes Benz CLS500. Bank employees described one of the suspects as a young Hispanic man. Anyone with information should contact the Fairfield Police at 203-254-4800.
