Officers were called to the ShopRite, 1975 Black Rock Turnpike, on a report of a shoplifter, police said. When officers arrived, they were met by store employees, who had detained Melissa McMillan, of 264 Ronald Drive, police said.
McMillan had placed grocery items in plastic and reusable bags, then left without paying, police said.
Police also said a store employee also noticed that beer was missing from the day before the theft. After watching surveillance camera footage from that day, he determined that McMillan had taken beer, police said.
Stop & Shop provided police with the video, police said.
McMillan was charged with sixth-degree larceny, police said.
McMillan’s bond was set at $500. Her court date is Sept. 25, police said.
