FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Fairfield teen was charged with driving under the influence early Sunday after driving onto a lawn, police say.
A Dunnlea Road resident reported the accident at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, police said. A car failed to negotiate a curve in the road and drove up onto a lawn, according to accident investigators. The car then ran over a shrub, pushing the plant into a car parked in the driveway, police said. Neither the driver nor the car’s single passenger were injured, police say.
Andrew Walsh, 19, of Mill River Road admitted to police that he had been drinking that night, according to the police report. He failed field sobriety tests at the scene, and after his arrest two breathalyzer tests showed he was over the legal limit, police say.
Walsh was charged with failure to drive on the right, speeding and driving under the influence. He was released after posting $100 bond and is due in court May 20.
