The resident had come up from the cellar to discover a white female with brown hair standing behind a forest green car at his house, police said. When the woman noticed his presence, she drove away, police said.

The man walked around the side of his house and saw that his kayaks were out of place, police said. He then noticed that six lifejackets of varying types and sizes were missing, police said.

The value of the missing lifejackets was $600, police said.

The incident is under police investigation.
