Matthew Hernandez, 32, of Fiske Street, was charged with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, police said.
The victim said the argument began in the car after she had picked him up in Armonk, N.Y., at 2:30 a.m. because he was intoxicated and couldn’t drive, police said.
She said he backhanded her in the car, then pushed her into a tub while she was trying to draw a bath in his home, police said.
He then hit her lip, choked her and pulled her hair as she sat on a bed, police said. She told officers she was unable to breathe for a few seconds, police said.
Hernandez was released Sunday after posting $25,000 bond, police said. He was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
