Police: Fairfield Drug Deal Turns Into Robbery

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Four people were arrested in an armed robbery stemming from a drug deal at Fairfield’s Palamar Park, police say

A Fairfield resident called police to report that three men attempted to rob him at gunpoint in the Palamar Drive park area at about 9 p.m. Monday, according to the report. The victim knew one of the suspects and identified him as a 17-year-old York Road resident, police say.

A Fairfield police officer went to the York Road address and saw three men arrive in a sedan, who were identified as the suspects. Kadeem Mundle, 20, of Black Rock Turnpike, Zoahaib Qureshi, 20, of Norwalk and the 17-year-old juvenile were all placed under arrest, police say.

Mundle had a small amount of marijuana and plastic bags on him at the time, according to the police report. Officers did not find a weapon on either man during the arrest. Fairfield Police and firefighters searched the area and found a pellet gun that was designed to look like a real pistol discarded in a Palamar Drive yard, police say.

Police later learned that the victim had arranged to meet the three men in the park to sell them marijuana, according to the police report. The suspects tried to use counterfeit money in the sale. When the victim refused the sale, the juvenile pulled out the pellet gun and demanded that he turn “hand over the stuff,” police say.

The victim ran and was chased by two of the suspects before he called police, according to the police report. When officers arrived they found that Patrick Mims, 18, of Rock Ridge Road, had 2.4 ounces of marijuana in his car, police say. He was then placed under arrest also, police said.

The juvenile was charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy, a breach of the peace and carrying a handgun without a permit. He was released on a juvenile summons, and is due in court on June 3.

Qureshi  was charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released after posting $10,000 bond, and is due in court June 4.

Mundle was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. He was released on $1,000 bond, and is also due in court June 4.

Mims was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to sell Monday. He was released after posting $1,000 bond, and is due in court June 5.
