William Davidson, 92, of Park Avenue, turned himself in at police headquarters on Tuesday, Dec. 30, after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police have been investigating since the accident on the evening of Nov. 14. That night, Davidson was traveling east on Edgewood Road when his vehicle veered into the front lawn of a home, hitting a parked vehicle on the property, police said.
After hitting the parked car, Davidson's vehicle flipped onto its roof and slid across two lanes of traffic before coming to a stop, police said.
When they arrived at the scene, officers said Davidson was already in an ambulance but had no knowledge of the accident, police said. He asked why he was in the ambulance and why he was receiving medical attention, police said.
A strong smell of alcohol was on his breath, and police said they obtained a blood sample for testing.
After the test results were returned, Davidson was charged with failure to drive right and driving under the influence.
Davidson was released on a promise to appear in court on Jan. 6.
