Akram Enany, 54, of Knapps Highway, was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, after his wife hit him and he struck her with the back of his hand, police said.

She showed signs of swelling and redness, but Enany did not appear to be injured, officers said.

The wife was given a misdemeanor summons for disorderly conduct.

Enany was released on $1,000 bond and his wife was released on a promise to appear in court. The couple, who are divorcing, were scheduled to appear in court May 30, police said.
