Fairfield Town Officials are still assessing the full extent of the damage but it is believed to be the worst storm-related event since the 1938 hurricane. The town has not yet put an estimated value on the total amount of damage caused by the storm.
“We really haven’t assessed the full damage yet,” First Selectman Michael Tetreau said Tuesday morning. “We’re waiting for the flood waters to recede. We know that there’s been significant damage in the beach area.”
