On Friday morning, store security personnel reported to police that they had stopped a man in jeans and a hooded sweatshirt after they suspected him of not paying for items in his bag, police said.

When approached, the man fled the store, police said. A review of the store security video found that he had gone into the candy aisle and taken $171 in Hershey's bars and put them into a reusable bag, police said.

On Sunday afternoon, officers were called back to the same location, where store security reported that a man had been seen entering the candy aisle with a shopping basket and taking 40 packages of Hershey's chocolate bars with almonds, police said. The man fled the store without paying for the $100 worth of chocolate bars, police said.

Fairfield police were investigating the thefts.
