Police: Man Killed By Train In Fairfield Was Lying On Tracks

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The person struck by a northbound Metro-North train Saturday night was identified as Michael Lang, 51, of Milford by MTA Police.

According to the MTA Police Department, Lang was a trespasser and had been lying on the tracks about three-quarters of a mile west of the Fairfield Metro Station when he was struck at about 6:26 p.m.

In a MTA release, the Connecticut Medical Examiner pronounced Lang dead at the site and said he was killed instantly.

Police said officers identified Lang from "personal papers found on his body" before informing his family of his death.

On June 6, according to the MTA on Sunday, Lang had been issued a summons by MTA Police for "trespassing on the Metro-North right-of-way at the same location where he was killed yesterday, an area of track near Kings Highway."

The train that struck Lang had around 350 passengers on board and resumed its trip after a 90-minute delay.

The incident remained under investigation by MTA Police.
