A Connecticut mother has died after being stabbed more than 30 times allegedly by her angry husband while her two children cowered in another room.
Monica Dominguez, of Cheshire, was found in a pool of blood on the floor, stabbed more than 30 times when police responded to a domestic violence call at her home on Wednesday, Sept. 11, according to police.
Despite her injuries, the mother of an 11-year-old and 2-year-old was able to tell police her husband had attacked her because he thought she had cheated on him, court records show, NBC Connecticut reported.
She died several days later on Sunday, Sept. 15, Cheshire Police said.
Court papers revealed that the 11-year-old boy called 911.
“The family is in a lot of pain,” Diana Montes, a friend of the victim’s, told NBC Connecticut. “We need to become her voice. This has to stop. We want full justice for Monica. She didn’t deserve this.”
Her husband, Emmanuel Dominguez-VillaGomez, 31, who also suffered wounds, was rushed to another hospital for treatment. When released, he was charged on Friday, Sept. 13, with assault, risk of injury, reckless endangerment, and unlawful restraint.
Cheshire Police said now that Dominguez has died, they are working closely with the Office of the State's Attorney on additional charges.
Monica is the ninth domestic violence homicide so far this year in the state, according to Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Dominguez-VillaGomez is being held on a $750,000 bond.
