The accident occurred on Grasmere Avenue near Roanoke Avenue at about 11 p.m. Saturday, according to official reports. An SUV struck two cars parked on the side of the road and rolled over, trapping the driver and a passenger inside, said the Fairfield Fire Department. The other cars were unoccupied at the time, police say.
The passenger, a 34-year-old Norwalk man, was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with an injured hand, which will require surgery, according to the police report. The driver refused medical attention at the scene, police say.
The driver, a 29-year-old Bridgeport man, also failed field sobriety tests at the scene, according to police reports. He was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving, both misdemeanors. He was released after posting $100 bond and is due in court April 2.
