All of eight checks that Espanol wrote to the Teterboro business for high-end luxury cars apparently weren’t worth the paper they were printed on.
Authorities searched nearly two months for Espanol, of Fairfield, Connecticut, before he turned himself in last week, said Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.
Espanol, 54, resold the cars through his business, Pinnacle Auto Wholesalers, also in Fairfield, the prosecutor said.
“Espanol was notified but never made good on the checks even after the vehicles were resold for profit,” Molinelli said.
He’s being held on $60,000 cash bail at the Bergen County Jail, the prosecutor said.
