At 6:49 a.m., Fairfield police, fire and an AMR Ambulance responded to the rollover on Barlow Road near Barlow Place, fire officials said.

Upon arrival, first responders found a Toyota Tacoma 4x4 pickup truck resting on the driver’s side on top of a stone wall. The driver, a 57-year-old man and the only occupant, was trapped inside.

Fairfield firefighters stabilized the vehicle, provided emergency medical care to the driver, then used a combination of hydraulic and electric power tools to remove the roof and extricate the victim from the truck, said Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola, the incident commander.

Fairfield police provided scene stability and traffic control at the scene.

AMR paramedics provided advanced medical car to the victim at the scene and enroute to the hospital.

“Fairfield Police, Fire, and AMR paramedics worked together to safely and efficiently extricate the driver and provide the medical care needed," Gomola said. "This was a perfect example of what we can accomplish given the right people, the right training, and the right tools. This was a job well done by all.”

Barlow Road was closed for about an hour as a result of the crash.
