The fire at 10 Research Drive began around 6:30 a.m. Monday, in the 12,504 square foot building, blocking area streets due to heavy smoke and HazMat issues.

Police, who are advising people to stay away, have blocked off streets and employees at surrounding businesses and residents in the vicinity are being prohibited from coming into the area.

In addition to the road closures, United Illuminating is reporting at least 20 residents without power.

The building, which houses MSE Audio, the manufacturer of Soundsphere audio speakers, is reportedly a complete loss with a total roof collapse and intense fire damage.
