Marilyn Bonilla, 46, of Fairfield, had been putting things into her purse and was stopped while purchasing several other items in the self checkout aisle, police said.
In her purse police found four packs of Swedish Fish, one bar of Dove soap and two bottles of Johnson & Johnson baby cream with a total value of $20.23.
According to police, Bonilla has 31 prior arrests and is a convicted felon. When asked why she took the items, Bonilla said she was being stupid, police said.
Bonilla was charged with sixth-degree larceny, held on $250 bond and issued a court date of Jan. 28.
