Fairfield Woman, 90, Drives Car Through Garage, Fence, Neighbor's Yard

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A 90-year-old Fairfield woman was uninjured Friday afternoon when she drove her car through her garage door, the garage’s back wall and a stockade fence and into a bush in a neighbor’s backyard, police said.

The woman told officers she turned right off Kings Highway East into her driveway and thought she stepped on the brake, but must have hit the accelerator, police said.

An officer seized the woman’s license and she was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for observation as a precaution, police said.

No charges have been filed.
