The 23-year-old woman, who has not be identified, was killed in the crash early Wednesday, NBC said. The other four people killed were from the same family, according to NBC Connecticut:
- Jose Martin Labrador, 52, acting director of education technology at Housatonic Community College;
- Gisela Gil Egui, 48, his wife, an associate professor of communication of Fairfield University;
- Miguel Gil, her brother, of Cooper City, Fla., who was driving; and
- Gisela Egui, 71, of Venezuela, the mother of Miguel Gil and Gisela Gil Egui.
The two women were ejected from the car in the crash, which ultimately involved five vehicles, the Miami Herald said.
Gisela Gil Egui was an associate professor of communications at Fairfield University. She taught courses in Mass Media and Society; Media Institutions; Globalization, Media & Culture; Technoculture & Info Society; and Media Law and Institutions. She had a bachelor's degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela and a master's and doctorate from Temple University.
