FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Three Fairfield stores were accused of selling alcohol to minors during compliance checks last weekend, the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection said.
The DCP’s Liquor Control Division and the Fairfield Police Department conducted undercover operations at stores that sell alcohol in Fairfield last Friday. Youth volunteers working with police went to 24 stores in town that evening and attempted to buy alcohol without proper identification.
Grasmere Discount Liquor, Al’s Warehouse and Super Stop & Shop on Villa Avenue failed the test, the DCP said in a press release. The three stores were charged with selling alcohol to a minor, and are scheduled to appear before the state’s Liquor Control Commission to appeal the charges.
