The male suspect handed the teller a note announcing the robbery, police said. After placing the money into his left coat pocket, he exited the bank and walked west along the Post Road, police said.
Within a few seconds of fleeing the bank, the dye pack exploded in the stolen money, police said. He is seen dropping the money onto the ground and fleeing in the pictured vehicle, believed to be a red or maroon Ford Fusion, which traveled west on the Post Road, police said.
The male suspect had gone into the bank two days prior, May 18, at 12:20 p.m. and wanted to turn in loose change he was carrying in a plastic Domino Sugar container, police said.
While speaking with a bank employee that day, the man stated that he worked construction — under the table — and that he had bad credit, six children for whom he was behind in their child support and declined to open an account for fear that the government would seize his money, police said.
