According to the police report, between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, three people went into the store to purchase gift cards. The first was a black female who bought a $100 gift card to Nordstroms, police said. Shortly afterward, a black man came in to purchase two $200 Visa gift cards and headphones using two different credit cards, police said.
At 8:30 p.m., a third man came in attempting to purchase gift cards, but employees told officers they became suspicious at that point and asked for identification, police said. The man asked a second employee to complete the purchase but left after he was unsuccessful, police said. Employees told police that the man went toward Marshalls.
Officers questioned employees at the next-door CVS Pharmacy, who said a man matching the description of the third suspect came in and purchased a $200 Moneygram using a gift card, police said. The man attempted to purchase a second, but the employee told officers they suspected fraudulent activity and declined to perform the second transaction, police said.
The suspects were gone by the time officers arrived. Police were investigating the situation.
