Fairfield Police Officer Extinguishes Small Brush Fire Near Restaurant

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A quick-thinking officer extinguished a small brush fire while on patrol shortly before 2 a.m. Friday, Fairfield Police said.

The officer was patrolling the development that houses Sportsplex@Fairfield and Local Kitchen and Beer Bar at 85 Mill Plain Road when he noticed a small brush fire on the northeast corner of the restaurant, police said.

The officer put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, which police said is standard equipment on police cruisers.

Police said damage was minimal. A drain pipe melted in the blaze, police said.
