FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Police Department is offering car seat safety checks and installations from certified child passenger safety technicians on Saturday.

The technicians will demonstrate and explain proper selection, installation and use of car seats, booster seats and seat belts.

All children are required by Connecticut state law to ride in an approved child safety seat until they are 7 years of age and weigh 60 pounds.

Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children and can often be prevented by the proper use of car seats, boosters and seat belts.
