Fairfield Police Marine Unit Rescues Boater In Distress

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The Fairfield Police Marine Unit came to the rescue of a boater whose vessel was taking on water Tuesday afternoon just outside the South Benson Marina Channel, police said.

At 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Fairfield Police Department received a report of a boater in distress. 

The Marine Unit responded and located the boater and his vessel, which was taking on water, police said. 

The vessel was towed by the Fairfield Police Boat to the boat launch ramp at the marina, police said. 

The swift response ensured the safety of the boater and prevented further damage to the boat, police said.
