Several residents called police to report a couple fighting near the intersection of Black Rock Turnpike and Jennings Road just before midnight, police said.

The woman, who had swelling under her left eye, said they were arguing about her boyfriend impregnating another woman, police said.

The man, Dwight Franklin, 28, of Wooster Avenue, Stratford, said they were arguing about his relationship with another woman, but he didn’t mention a pregnancy. He told officers she tried to strike him and he blocked her, accidentally hitting her face, police said.

Franklin was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace, police said. He was released on $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on May 1.
