FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A homeless man was arrested in Fairfield early Friday morning after reportedly asking a gas station attendant to turn him over to the police, according to police reports.
An employee at Cumberland Farms on the Post Road told police that the man entered the store and told the clerk to call 911, because he had a warrant against him. The suspect, a 60-year-old man from Bridgeport, had an active warrant for his arrest for failing to pay an outstanding ticket, police say.
The man was issued a ticket for violating a town ordinance in July, according to state court records, and had not paid the fine. He was charged with failure to respond to an infraction. He was held in lieu of a $100 bond, and is due in court Nov. 29.
