Fairfield Police: Loud Music Leads To Arrest Of Hookah Lounge Owner

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The owner of a hookah lounge that has been in the news several times in recent months was arrested early Sunday when a neighbor complained of loud music coming from the business, police said.

At about 1 a.m., a Longfellow Avenue man reported hearing loud bass thumping from the Sky Hookah Lounge, especially when people opened and closed the front door, police said.

Officers arrested Anwar Malas, 28, of Quincy Street, and charged him with disorderly conduct, police said.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on April 11.

Fairfield police have stepped up patrols in the area around the hookah lounge, which is located on Kings Highway East and has seen an uptick of narcotics and criminal activity in recent months.
