The break-in and attack occurred at about 3 a.m. Sept. 1 at a home inhabited by female college students, police said.
The lone occupant of the home at the time was awakened by the suspect, and was beaten, sexually assaulted and strangled to the point of unconsciousness, police said.
After an investigation, including a scientific examination of physical evidence, a man has been "definitively identified as the person responsible for the attack" and a warrant has been obtained for his arrest, police said in a statement.
The suspect has been identified as Edibaldo “Eddie” Duran, also known as Eddie Guerrero, police said. He is 25 years old and a Mexican national. He is described as 5-foot-2 and weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He has dark hair that is possibly spiky, acne, and what the victim described as “grayish eyes.” He also spoke with a slight Spanish accent.
The first picture was taken in August. However, on the evening before the attack, he shaved his goatee closely and may resemble the altered picture that appears second.
Anyone knows the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to contact the Fairfield Police Department at 203-254-4808, or email .Detective Kerry Dalling at kdalling@town.fairfield.ct.us. An anonymous tip can be texted to 274637.
