Fairfield police received a report of an unwelcome guest making himself at home at a Fairfield residence Saturday.

The man, who identified himself to the homeowner only as “Billy,” apparently was sleeping on the couch when the woman walked into her Fairfield Beach Road home, police said.

When she asked the man to leave, he apologized and left immediately without incident, police said.

The homeowner believed the man was intoxicated, police said. He was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and jeans, police said.

Officers have been unable to catch up with the man, police said.

Earlier this month, a Jennings Road resident was upstairs in her home with her kids when two unknown college-age males walked into her house, police said.

In that incident, police believe the men had unknowingly walked in to the wrong house, but officers did not say whether the men were intoxicated.
