Rosa Blanca Chavarria-Medina, 31, of Bridgeport, was taken into custody by Bridgeport police Monday afternoon, police said. The arrest report did not detail how officers apprehended Chavarria-Medina, who police had been looking for since last week.
She was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, failure to obey a stop sign, failure to grant half of the highway, reckless driving and first-degree reckless endangerment, police said. She was released on $5,000 bond. No court date was released.
According to police reports, Chavarria-Medina was driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.3, three time the legal limit. She had been driving a 1998 black Nissan Maxima south on Interstate 95 and took Exit 24 for Chambers Street last Monday night, police said.
Her car sped south off the exit ramp, careened through the parking lot and came to rest at the Cumberland Farms building after striking five other vehicles, Fairfield police said.
Four people, including Chavarria-Medina and an 18-month-old child, were sent to the hospital after the accident.
