FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Two Shelton men were arrested Saturday, after police said they stole two drill combination packs from Home Depot in Fairfield and sped off in a pickup, attracting an officer’s attention.

At about 5 p.m., Dennis Marques, 24, of Mohegan Road, and Alex Monteiro, 26, of Peaceful Place, set off security alarms when they left the store carrying two DeWalt drill packs valued at $758, police said.

An officer nearby saw a Chevy pickup speeding out of the parking lot and heading east on Kings Highway East, police said.

A Home Depot loss prevention staffer was watching another suspicious person when the alarm sounded, but he was able to see the pickup and give police a partial license plate number, police said.

Both men were charged with fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny, police said.

Officers discovered that Marques was listed as a missing person with the Shelton Police Department, police said. He was released on a promise to appear and was advised to contact his family.

Monteiro was held on warrant out of Trumbull.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 31.
