After the officer stopped Steven Junker, he went up to the car and saw a piece of tinfoil with what looked like a melted pill on it, police said. Junker admitted that he used it for freebasing cocaine, police said. He then took and failed the field sobriety tests, police said.
Junker was taken into custody and brought to the Fairfield police station, where two breath tests were inconclusive, police said. He consented to a urine test, but the results were not immediately available, police said.
During a pat down, officers found a plastic bag in Junker's pocket, which police say is commonly used for heroin. Junker said he put the bag in his pocket after he was pulled over, police said.
Earlier in the day, a family member had called for an ambulance believing that Junker was unconscious, police said. He was not taken to the hospital.
Another family member also had called police earlier Thursday to report that Junker took tools from his house, police said. But another family member said she saw him put the tools in a car with another person, police said. They opted to not press charges.
Junker was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive right. He was released on $100 cash bond into the custody of a family member with a court date of March 17.
