The officer stopped Kalex Garcia, 40, of Madison Avenue, at about 1:30 a.m. near the corner of Post Road and South Pine Creek Road after he noticed the car had no front license plate and tinted windows, police said.

When asked, Garcia said a friend let him borrow the car, but a check of the VIN showed it was reported stolen out of Waterbury on Dec. 23, police said.

Garcia was charged with third-degree larceny, misuse of plates and operating a vehicle without a license, police said.

He was held on $5,000 bond and is expected in court on April 18.
