Fairfield Police: Body Of Woman Found On Cemetery Property

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A cemetery employee discovered the body of a 38-year-old woman on the grounds of a Black Rock Turnpike cemetery Tuesday morning, Fairfield police said.

Police were called to Lawncroft Cemetery, which is located at 1740 Black Rock Turnpike, shortly before noon.

When officers arrived, they discovered a body between a stone wall and a wooden fence. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at 12:08 p.m, police said.

Police have identified the woman as Janelle Staffieri, 38, of Manchester. She has relatives in the area, police said.

Her body was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy, but police do not believe foul play was involved.

The incident is under police investigation.
