"With an impending snowstorm and possible future storms, the town of Fairfield reminds all residents and business owners that per Town Ordinance, within 24 hours after a storm, Fairfield property owners are responsible for removing snow and ice from sidewalks along their property line and keeping the sidewalks clear of snow and ice," police said in a notice. "Heavily used sidewalks near schools and public buildings and commercial areas are particularly important."
Police are also asking residents and business owners to shovel around fire hydrants near their properties.
"It’s important to keep our sidewalks clear so we can keep our pedestrians safe, especially our children who walk to and from school," police said in the notice. "Thank you to our residents and business owners who help keep our community safe, especially given the inordinate amount of snow we are receiving this winter."
