William Dong of Stratfield Road was charged with first-degree criminal trespass after the assistant principal at Fairfield Woods Middle School called police Monday to report that Dong was seen riding a Segway down the access driveway between the middle school and Jennings School, reported the Post.
Dong was released after posting a $1,000 bond, the Post said.
On Dec. 3 2013, Dong was arrested in West Haven near the University of New Haven campus after he was found in possession of two handguns and a rifle. Dong was sentenced to five years of federal probation this past January.
Dong pleaded guilty to a charge of transporting an assault weapon into Connecticut in violation of federal law in that case.
He had purchased a Bushmaster model XM-15-E2S, .223-caliber semi-automatic rifle in Pennsylvania and brought it back to Connecticut. This firearm is considered a prohibited assault weapon under Connecticut state law.
Dong had said he had the firearms out of concern for his safety and the safety of his fellow UNH students.
He also had pleaded guilty in Milford Superior Court to state firearms offenses related to the incident and was sentenced to eight years of incarceration, execution suspended after two years, and five years of probation.
As conditions of probation, Dong cannot possess any firearms or ammunition, associate with individuals in possession of firearms or go to shooting ranges. He also must submit to mental health counseling. Dong also had been told by police detectives that he was not allowed on any public school property in Fairfield, according to the Post.
