An independent witness called police to report a road rage incident on Knapps Highway at about 5 p.m. Sunday. The witness told police that an enraged man walked up to a car during an argument, pulled the driver out of the vehicle and punched him, police say.
Officers found Adis Radoncic, 32, of Campfield Drive, pushing a car on Knapps Highway after the call, according to a police report. Radoncic said the argument began when he was cut off by another driver, and that he was kicked in the groin, police say. He denied punching the other man, but according to two witnesses, Radoncic was the instigator, according to the arrest report.
When asked why he was pushing his car, Radoncic told police that his wife and kids had taken the keys and left the scene, police say. Officers eventually found the woman, who reported that Radoncic punched her while in the car with their two children, according to the police report. The woman had a cut on her lip and a cracked tooth from the incident, police say.
Radoncic was charged with a breach of the peace, a misdemeanor, in the argument with the other driver, police said. He is due in court April 18 on that charge. In the incident with his wife, Radoncic was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor, a felony, as well as third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors. He was held on $5,000 bond and was due in court Monday for those charges.
