Fairfield Man Charged In Incident At Jewish Home

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Fairfield man was charged with trespassing and causing a disturbance Tuesday morning at the Jewish Home for the Elderly on Jefferson Street.

Nursing home employees told police that Michael Kondrat, 63, of Four Seasons Road, tried remove his mother, a patient who was under the stewardship of the nursing home. But Kondrat demanded to remove her, according to police reports. Kondrat had been warned to stay away from the home after a similar incident Friday, police say.

Kondrat put his mother in a wheelchair and began taking her to his car. He shoved home employees who attempted to stop him, police say, and also slammed a nurse’s hand in his car door, causing cuts to the victim’s hand.

He also struggled with Fairfield Police officers who tried to remove him from the property, according to police reports. Police also found that his vehicle was unregistered and his driver’s license suspended.

Kondrat was charged with breach of the peace, interfering with an officer and first-degree criminal trespass, all misdemeanors. He was also charged with misuse of a license plate, operating an unregistered vehicle, failure to have insurance and driving with a suspended license. He was held on a $5,000 bond and is due in court Aug. 10.
