Fairfield Man Charged After Alleged Suicide Threat

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Fairfield man was charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly made threats against himself with a handgun, police reported.

The Fairfield Police Emergency Services Unit, the local equivalent of a S.W.A.T. team, was dispatched to the man’s Harbor Road home Saturday afternoon. Police said they received reports that the man was threatening suicide in front of his wife and teenage daughter by pointing a pistol at his head.

After police arrived the man came out of his home willingly, according to police reports. Officers later found that the weapon was not loaded, but the handgun and other weapons were seized, police said.

Christopher Tors, 65, was charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, and taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation. Bond was set at $5,000, and he appeared in court as scheduled Monday morning.
